The central government has abruptly removed Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) Chairman and Managing Director R.P. Gupta from his post. According to sources, this is the result of serious irregularities related to Anil Ambani-owned Reliance Power. Gupta, a retired IAS officer of Gujarat cadre, has been retired with immediate effect as per an official order.
